Hour of Babble - A podcast exploring the world of constructed langage

"Hour of Babble" is possibly the world's first constructed language podcast. Constructed languages, or "Conlangs" for short, are languages planned by individuals and small groups as opposed to languages that develop naturally. Conlangs are created for many reasons - for artistic purposes, for international communication, for personal enjoyment. On "Hour of Babble", we will discuss how conlangs are made, and what languages are making headlines.

Announcement for November 15th, 2006 by Leon : You can now rejoice. Our first episode is completed. You can download it by clicking on "latest episode" on the menu bar on the right side of the screen. Unfortunatley, it is not yet hooked up to an RSS feed, so it's not technically a "podcast" as of yet. But now, finally, you can download the first episode of "Hour of Babble" to listen to at home and on your mp3 player.

To everyone who contributed to this episode: Thank you for your help. You are all in the credits, and I have given you links on our "links" section (on the right). Special thanks goes out to Bill Sethares, MacKenzie Rohlfing, and Eledhi. I'd also like to thank "McNugget" from the Zompist.com forum for actually coming up with the name "Hour of Babble".

For the next episode, I plan to include more technical aspects of Conlanging - I also want to include more of you - the audience. I need people to come on the show and do interviews. I also ned music - if you ave any recorded music sung in your constructed language, send it over! See "Contribute" on the right menu for more information on how to contribute to our program.

Thanks again to everyone who helped out with the show. Now enjoy, "Hour of Babble".

Announcement for November 8th, 2006 by Leon : Welcome visitors! Before you is the main page of the "Hour of Babble" podcast. The site is still under construction, but progress is being made at an alarming rate. For instance, I have just finished what I hope will be our "title bar image" (see the ziggurat at the top left). It was heavily inspired by the official Constructed Language Flag (for more information, please visit http://web.netyp.com/member/dragon/create/language/conlanging.htm. Thank you daryush from the Zompist.com Bboard, for showing me what it looked like! The first show is almost ready to be recorded. Music has been acquired, and drafts have been made up. I am still thinking of a good idea for the "linguistics feature" part of the show. I will post a draft of the segment for review when complete.
